Get These Templates!

Hey Gang…I have something super exciting to tell you about! It takes a LOT for a product to make me say “Holy Sh*t!” out loud…but THIS one did!

It’s a new video template package that enables you to create customized videos using Powerpoint. I hate to admit this (being that I taught a course on Powerpoint) but I didn’t even know you could DO some of what these templates can do.

I grabbed the front-end offer (it’s less than $18 right now) and I also grabbed the OTO (gives you even more templates AND developer rights).

Listen, I’ll be REALLY honest…It never even occurred to me that you could create videos like this just using Powerpoint. They’re THAT powerful. And I sure as hell wouldn’t have sold them for $17! That’s just stupid.

But the reality is that this is one of my personal favorite purchases THIS YEAR…and that’s saying something.

At Least We Have the Story…

Over the years I’ve realized that, when it comes to events in my life, there are several versions of what took place. There is the “How I Remember It” version; the “What I Share with Personal Friends and Family” version; the “Social Media” version; the “Contemplative What Went Right and Wrong” version; the “Other People’s” version and what REALLY happened. I can kid myself into thinking that they are ALL one and the same, but we BOTH know that just isn’t reality.

I CHOOSE what version of the story to tell for any number of reasons. I could share a version of the story to make ME look like the hero…or someone ELSE look like the villain. I could spin the story to make it humorous for laughs or just to vent in a glorious bitchfest. I might downplay my story because I feel embarrassed by what happened or shrug it off as if it doesn’t matter. But in every scenario, I have my reasons for CHOOSING the story I tell, whether those reasons are conscious or sub-conscious. So do YOU!

I’ll give you an example…my recent wedding with Kristen Joy.

The story told on Social Media through Facebook Live video, photos from guests and congratulations from friends, family and customers is the version of the story most are familiar with. Everything shared DID happen and it was both fun and wonderful. But there is another story…one NOT shared much. THIS version of the story includes a fatal accident that occurred on the bridge near our wedding location that prevented most of our guests, including my daughters, from arriving to the ceremony until much later than it was scheduled to begin. It includes strong winds that forced us to, at the last minute, franticly search for a backup venue for the reception because sand was getting into the food and making it impossible to keep wedding decorations on the table. And THIS version includes disappointments and embarrassments that were NOT a part of our plan or expectations.

Both stories are the truth and both stories INCLUDE what mattered most: Kristen Joy and I became husband and wife on the beach in front of family and friends who traveled from all over to support us and love us! A lot went right and a lot went wrong, but in the end, a boy and a girl who love each other got married.

So WHY am I telling you this?

We all have STORIES and choose how we should share them. The truth is that it’s BECAUSE of stories that we connect and interact with one another. Stories matter…they matter in our private lives, they matter in our personal growth, they matter in our interactions with others and they matter in our businesses!

Stories matter and it’s time to tell YOURS!

In business, the challenge at times is how to TELL your story that ENGAGES your audience in a way YOU choose. I’m NOT talking about making stuff up or playing the “pity me” card. No! A Video Challenge

Here’s a fun challenge for you…

I’ve been speaking at Simple 3: Video Velocity this weekend in Anaheim, CA this weekend and the hands-on workshops have been awesome. Challenging the attendees to actually DO what we’re teaching so that, in the end, they actually have finished videos uploaded and available on YouTube and on their website. Some of them are doing it kicking and screaming…lol…but they’re getting their videos done. It’s very cool.

And that brings me to the challenge…

I’ve been talking about the importance and need to create your own videos. It’s not a suggestion…it’s a necessity if you’re serious about building an online business. Have you created any videos that are actually online yet? If yes…awesome! Produce more! If no, what are you waiting for?

I want to challenge you to create your first (or a new) video TODAY and post the link on my blog so I can see it. I want to know you’re getting this and DOING it! Plus…it could be fun. Now…about the video you’re going to create…it can be ANY kind of video, such as:

  • A Live Action Video: Talk into your video camera, flip cam, smart phone, etc. Share a one-minute tip you can share with the world that can help the viewer.
  • A Screencast Video: Create a quick Powerpoint video on your product or service, or again, to share a valuable tip or insight.
  • A Mixed Media Video: Use Animoto or other video program to create a video with photos, text, music, etc. that shares something helpful, fun or uplifting.
  • A Live Broadcast Video: Setup, broadcast and record a brief video on UStream where you share something of value to your audience (or potential audience).

Once your video is created, upload it to YouTube and share the link in the comments section below of this article. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
